Anduril Takes on IVAS Program for US Army

By Barry Schuler

Anduril Industries has once again demonstrated its leadership in developing new technologies for the modern battlefield. In a landmark agreement, Anduril will take over the US  Army’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) program from Microsoft, pending Department of Defense approval. This partnership highlights Anduril’s growing role in advancing national defense capabilities through advanced AI, autonomous systems, and mission-critical software.

Under this new arrangement, Anduril will lead the development, production, and deployment of IVAS, a next-generation soldier-worn system designed to enhance battlefield awareness using augmented and virtual reality. Microsoft will continue providing cloud infrastructure, with Azure becoming Anduril’s preferred platform for IVAS-related workloads and other defense AI applications.

The IVAS program, originally built on Microsoft’s HoloLens technology, faced early challenges in adapting commercial AR (augmented reality) for combat conditions. Anduril, known for its agile development approach and deep defense expertise, is expected to refine and accelerate the system’s deployment—delivering a more effective, combat-ready solution.

This program win by Anduril underscores a broader shift in defense contracting, where specialized technology firms are reshaping the future of military capabilities. At DFJ Growth, we are proud to support Anduril as it continues to innovate at the intersection of AI, autonomy, and national security.

Congratulations to Anduril on this major milestone!
