Anduril announced it will build a massive hyperscale manufacturing facility called Arsenal-1 in central Ohio.
The Costa Mesa, California-based defense technology company selected Ohio because the location is strategic for defense logistics, given its proximity to other major manufacturing and technological hubs in the Midwest, as well as its accessibility to various military sites across the US. Production of military drones and autonomous air vehicles would begin in July 2026 under the plan, said Anduril Founder Palmer Luckey.
Luckey calls the Ohio facility integral to its goal to “Rebuild the Arsenal” of US military weapons and platforms by “hyperscaling” manufacturing with advanced production technologies.
Anduril is fast-tracking the facility to “rapidly scale up autonomous systems and weapons that our nation and our allies need to remain secure,” added Anduril CEO Brian Schimpf.
“We do not have the capability to deter the conflict of today and we are vulnerable to the looming conflict of the future. Put simply, we need to manufacture more weapons faster to support that effort,” said Schimpf.
Schimpf added that the facility will feature scalable software-driven manufacturing to enable the rapid mass production of autonomous weapons and systems.
“This is how we move from incremental gains to transformational capability,” he said. “We’re ready to respond to demands of both today and tomorrow. This is how we win.”
